I bought the 791 as my lighter duty drill specifically because it was the smallest drill that still had all metal construction on the collar. I also intend to us the 999 as my auger for ice fishing, hence why I got the big boy. Sounds like you could use something two steps down perhaps.įor drills I ended up buying a DCF791 for lighter duty household stuff and the DCF999 as my workhorse /metal work, etc. If I bought one again I might size down a step. Everyone just seems to love them, so I actually bought two.įor impact I bought the big boy DCF899, which I've since been reading is probably overkill for me but oh well.
#Best dewalt impact driver#
I've been asking similar questions as I have been assembling my new collection, and by far the most common answer I got for an impact driver was that DCF887. There are just a lot of Dewalt models and sizes, and im not sure which combination of models would give me the best value and the most options.

What size impact wrench would be good for removing occasional stuck on bolts on my truck, and might also be neat to be able to use it to handle the lugs nuts on my wheels? I will also get a drill, just looking at the impact driver to drive wood screws for deck projects and around the house. I'd rather by a tool thats lasts, than something thats doesn't t do what i need and gets replaced when I need it.Ĭan anyone recommend what impact driver size (1/4, 3/8, 1/2") i should be looking at? I am not a professional, but I would consider myself an advanced DIY person because Ill take on big projects and always appreciate having the right tool to make your life easier.

I'd like to start out with an impact driver and a impact wrench. Id like to retire my old craftsman cordless drills and looking two get into the Dewalt 20v tools because it seems like they have a lot of the tools I could use.
